The Basingstoke Taekwon-Do School was started in the Basingstoke Sports Centre in 1985 by Senior Master Paul Cutler VIII Dan. He was a 3rd Dan instructor from Reading at the time and shortly afterwards he promoted to 4th Dan.

After a year or so Jeannine Law 2nd Dan, also from Reading, took over as instructor.

Miss Law continued to instruct at the Sports Centre and then moved the school to it’s current location at the Richard Aldworth School Gymnasium around 1988.

The first Basingstoke student promoted to blackbelt was Mike O’Neill who joined the Basingstoke school, when it first started ,as a 3rd Kup from  the Stonehenge school in Wiltshire who promoted to 1st Dan in 1987.  Shortly afterwards Basingtsoke’s first full term students Peter Cole and  Richard Pullen were promoted to 1st Dan.

During the 90’s the school was run by Jim Truesdale 1st Dan and then Mark Fussell 1st Dan who both promoted to 1st Dan at the school and then by Phil Statham 3rd Dan who took over as instructor until 2006.

In 2006 Dean Sawyer 1st Dan, another Basingstoke student who came through the ranks, took over as Instructor and in 2008 Mike O’Neill 5th Dan returned as senior instructor.
